Scientists and doctors have launched a unique study of pertussis and are looking for patients

Since the beginning of this year, the National Institute of Health has recorded more than 13 000 cases of whooping cough, which corresponds to the situation in the 1960s. More than 1,000 people are being infected every week. Three people have already died of whooping cough this year, including one baby. New research by scientists from the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Czech Academy of Sciences (CAS), the Institute of Microbiology of the CAS and the Thomayer University Hospital should contribute to a better understanding of the disease and the development of more effective vaccines. Scientists and doctors are now looking for volunteers who have had the disease and are willing to contribute to the unique study.

Scientists are now looking for volunteers who have recently contracted whooping cough and are willing to contribute to a unique study of how the human immune system responds to this infection. Volunteers can sign up for the study by visiting the website for full details HERE (in Czech)
