About us
The group of Synthetic Biology is affiliated with the Department of Cell Biology of the Faculty of Science, Charles University.
Synthetic biology presents tools that we use to study the vast natural and unnatural protein sequence space. Our main interests are early as well as current protein evolution. We study combinatorial peptide and protein libraries in silico, in vitro and in vivo to better understand constraints on protein structure and function evolution. We are also interested in protein engineering, novel tool development and molecular life elsewhere in the Universe.
