The project is focused on the analysis of ultra-fast dynamics (<10 picoseconds) of biological molecular systems using unique pulsed sources of ionizing radiation of the ELI Beamlines infrastructure.
The project is closely connected with projects 3.6 in the complex biophysical characterization of the studied systems and with project 3.9 in the interpretation of measured data by quantum mechanical and other computer models.
Objectives:
- Mechanistic explanation of the correlation between dynamics and functions of the studied systems by correlations of structural changes with their time course
- Explanation of mechanisms of ionization damage of proteins and nucleic acids
